One in our cells following police pursuit on the A1(M) ⬇️

A man has been arrested after failing to stop for our officers following a pursuit on the A1(M) southbound.

The suspect's vehicle was initially spotted acting suspiciously in the Bedale and Leyburn areas shortly before midnight last night (18 March), before failing to stop for officers in Catterick Garrison.

After evading police, the vehicle was spotted once again just a short time later on the A66 near Scotch Corner.

Pursuing officers deployed pre‑emptive tactics, and following failed attempts to escape officers once again, the vehicle was brought to a stop on the A1(M) shortly before junction 51.

The driver was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving, driving otherwise in accordance with a licence, driving with no insurance, and failing to stop for police, and currently remains in custody for questioning.

Great work by all involved for bringing this one to a safe conclusion.
